This online sewing course includes everything we cover on our in person Beginner Dressmaking course, but you can now do it from the comfort of your home, at your own pace.

Not only do you get access to a virtual, step by step video tutorial, with digital information handouts, but we also send you a kit box in the post with all of the materials we provide for the course (this doesn't include your final skirt fabric/zip/thread), just as you would get in our original face to face format.

This includes the pattern, fabric for your toile (mock up) and a hook and bar fastening for the final touch.

Completing our beginner dressmaking course will give you the confidence to try a new project on your machine, or go on to learn how to make more complicated garments or alter clothing.

To purchase access to this course please sign up below and create a member account. This then gives you access to the course via your customer account on our website.

After you have signed up please add the kit box below to your basket, and purchase this separately to receive your items.

Kit boxes are listed at the shipping price only, as the contents are included in your sign up fee. So you are only paying the shipping at checkout.

Then all you have to do is sign in to your account to view your tutorials once your kit box arrives.

Please do not try and order a kit box without also signing up for the virtual course member access. If you do, you will be refunded.

Currently this is only available to UK residents, we are trying our best to make it available outside the UK.

We have a limited amount in each size that are available to be shipped straight away. If those are sold out, we have the option of buying ‘on order’ of which there is an unlimited amount available. These will be shipped out approximately a week after ordering - once we have had more stock arrive.

For sizes 24 and above we are still trying to find a suitable pattern that will work for teaching you this course. Please bear with us while we find the perfect one for you too!

PLEASE NOTE: You need to have a sewing machine at home to complete this course, and need to be able to thread it up, and sew a basic straight stitch. We also have a virtual version of our beginner lesson zero, for those that can’t yet use a sewing machine - click here - to see full details.

You will also need to purchase fabric, zip and matching thread for your final skirt. Directions on what and how much to buy are included in the tutorials.

Once you receive your kit box in the post, you can sign in to your account on our website and immediately get started on your video tutorials.

Content: The course

This virtual course covers the following topics, which is the same for those students who attend this course in person:

• Measuring the body and sizing/fitting information.

• How to size and prepare your pattern/what to buy

• Cutting out your toile (mock up).

• Sewing and fitting your mock up.

• Basic pattern alterations if needed.

• Cutting out and marking your final fabric.

• Inserting a zip.

• Attaching a waistband.

• Hemming and finishing.

Your tutorials for Part 1 will be available once you receive your kit box a couple of days after ordering.

It will appear in your account so please log in on our website when it arrives for immediate access to your videos.

Each new part to the course will be released weekly. They will appear in the navigation, in your account.

content: The Handouts

Alongside your virtual tutorial, you will also have access to a few digital information handouts, that we also email to students who attend in person. These contain a step by step for inserting the zip, as well as sizing and fitting information. They generally compliment the course for you to get the most out of your learning experience with us.

These can be kept online for reference, or printed out at home if you would prefer to have them physically as you go through the tutorial to add notes to. Alternatively for use after the course.
